"Wonderful Work" - 20th August 2010
Once again our team working on the Oldham Retaining Walls Framework have been praised.  This time a member of the public living in the hamlet of Grotton, Saddleworth has written into the Oldham Chronicle, lyrically stating: "We don't always get it right, I wish we did - but what wonderful work is taking place on Oldham Road, between Grotton and Lydgate..... Even now, unfinished, the transformation is amazing and a credit to the men creating this new wall.  At this stage, we can now glimpse the sky as a magnificent wall grows day by day.............  We in the Oldham areas are so honoured by the workmen who spend their hardworking lives improving ours.

"The Good Samaritan" - 12th August 2010
We were delighted to see Gerry Higgins in the office last week.  For those that don't know, Gerry is one of DCT's long-standing stalwarts and, following one of our regular Occupational Health Assessments, was in hospital in June having a quadruple heart by-pass operation.  Gerry is recovering well and is already thinking about a return to work, rather than watch any more Jeremy Kyle!  When he's ready we'll be delighted to have him back.  Oddly enough, Gerry featured in the June / July edition of Northern Life magazine, when he was at the centre of a Good Samaritan story.

Primrose Hill residents enjoy their new look estate - 15th May 2010
The residents of primrose hill came out in force recently to celebrate major improvements carried out to their estate by DCT.  The £1.4 Million regeneration scheme was officially opened by the Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr Julie Stewart-Turner, helped by local schoolboy Parash Jain, who has shown a keen interest in the scheme since work began.  DCT has created a 'home zone' in the area to make the estate more pedestrian friendly with redesigned road and footpath layouts, a lowered speed limit and traffic calming measures.  Car owners have also benefited from better parking.

The Mayor was then given a guided tour of the area so she could see all the improvements for herself, while residents enjoyed a barbecue and children were entertained by face painter, Clare Porter, courtesy of DCT and Kirklees Council.  Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing Chief Executive, Simon Rogers, said: "This scheme is a really good example of how different organisations can work together with local people to improve homes and communities, two key concerns for KNH."
