Stockport & Trafford MBC Framework Award - 31st July 2009

Stockport and Trafford Councils have been working collaboratively to procure 'streetscene' works in their respective boroughs.  A team of contractors will work in partnership across both councils, and we are delighted to announce that DCT has been awarded an initial 5-year contract to undertake highway and structures work, which has an option to be extended up to a maximum of a 10-year period.

Through the Streetscene partnership we can expect planned workload from a jointly agreed programme of work, and a long-term commitment in terms of a work stream over a prolonged period.  We will work with the councils to deliver a seamless integrated service of the required level, providing value engineering, bringing innovation, capacity, expertise to influence the design and delivery of services. The contract has been written to allow other north-west authorities to utilise the framework if they feel it appropriate.

Stockport has recently successfully secured government funding to undertake substantial repairs to a number of highway retaining walls, which will be delivered through this framework. Our first contract is the Tan Pit Retaining Wall Replacement at Marple, worth £315,000.  The scheme is a 75m contiguous piled retaining wall behind the existing dry stone structure.  A second contract worth £83,000 for the nearby Longhurst Lane Retaining Wall has now also been awarded.

DCT Renewable Energy Projects Ltd – 6th March 2009

For some years now, our increased awareness of climate change, as well as concern over the rapid depletion of fossil fuels, have served to highlight the need for sustainable energy.  This concern has led to high profile coverage at political level and is now firmly on the corporate agenda.  The requirement to reduce our usage of traditional fuels and therefore our carbon footprint is recognised globally and recorded in the Kyoto Protocol.  We can all help.  DCT are strongly positioned to assist with the delivery of these green energy projects and to this end we announce our move into the blossoming renewable energy sector.

This new division, DCT Renewable Energy Projects Ltd, will be led by Bill Shaw.  Bill’s experience in the design, development and construction of sustainable energy projects will see DCT extend its solid core skills and services to reflect our updated field of experience.  We will be offering Clients, Developers and Consortia a wide range of construction services that include – Land Surveys – Project cost options – Earth shifting – Quarry operations – Civil structure construction – Building construction – Mechanical and Electrical engineering – Drainage and landscaping.

We will continue to focus on the delivery of quality through our existing business, but with this revised capability, we will open up a new direction for the DCT name which will compliment all our ongoing workstreams.  Visit the DCT Renewable Energy Project website at www.dct-renewable.co.uk.
